I do a lot of Internet reading. I can't help it. I have interesting friends who write/find interesting things. In our attempt to be worldly, we depend on the Internet.
Anyway (read: moving on), today I came across a very interesting piece via Twitter from the fine and funny folks over at Popehat.
The article in question talks about the War on Christmas; you know, the Secular VS Religion battle of wills that happens every year. This article addresses the third contender: Commercialism. Ah yes, thanks to the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, we all know the dangers of commericalism at Christmas and what a secular evil it is. But commercialism and secular Christmas are not synonymous. Or perhaps it's bets to say that Religious Christmas (for lack of a better term) and commercialism are not mutually exclusive. The article, Jesus May Be the Reason for the Season. However, Jesus is Not the Reason You Are Shopping At Dick's, is well worth a read.

Stuart "MacAttack" McIntosh and I are big fans of teh video game, Portal. Portal is a great game that gets the player to think "outside the box." Here's a trailer to the game: http://youtu.be/TluRVBhmf8w

So you might have noticed that I use the term Michale Scott and Win-Win-Win a lot on the air. I figure for those who don't watch The Office, you might need a bit of explanation.
In the episode "Conflict Resolution" (2x21), the boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell) is trying to moderate conflict resolution between two of his employees. Michael Scott, who is a bit of an idiot, goes through five scenarios of conflict resolution: lose-lose, win-lose, compromise, win-win, and win-win-win.
"The important difference here is with win/win/win, we all win. Me too. I win for having successfully mediated a conflict at work."

So my friend (and friend of the station) Councilor Russell Thomas made a blog post about a recent encounter with a telephone scam. If you get a call from someone asking information about your computer or telling you someone hacked into your computer, HANG UP! This is a SCAM!
Please read Russell's blog post here.
