Haven’t received your influenza immunization yet?  It’s not too late!  Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to offer influenza immunization, free of charge, through local community health centres and public health offices.
Though immunization will be available through the end of March, Albertans are urged to protect themselves – and others – by getting immunized promptly.
“To put it simply: there is no benefit to waiting to be immunized,” says Dr. Gerhard Benade, North Zone Medical Officer of Health. “Influenza is actively circulating in our communities, and causing illness.  Immunization is the single most effective means of preventing this illness.  If you haven’t been already, go and get immunized today.”
Influenza immunization is safe, and recommended for all Albertans six months of age and older.
In Fort McMurray, influenza immunization will be offered as follows:
Fort McMurray Public Health,
113 Thickwood Boulevard, Fort McMurray, AB
Drop In ONLY - no appointments
Mondays - Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For more info, including local clinic details for all communities, visit www.albertahealthservices.ca or call Health Link Alberta at 1.866.408.5465 (LINK).
