Area job seekers will have a chance to put their polished resumes to good use next week. Friday, February 10 (1 p.m. – 5 p.m.) and Saturday, February 11 (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.) mark the return of one of the most successful and largest career fairs in the area.
Career Fair 2012 is hosted by Keyano College in partnership with Alberta Human Services and takes place at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre. This year’s fair is expected to draw several thousand attendees over the two days.
“One of the highlights from last year’s Career Fair revolves around two heavy equipment operators who were between jobs. They arrived early in the morning to help us set up the event, as they had been recruited as volunteers. As the two gentlemen were assisting the exhibitors, they struck up a conversation with the employers and had job offers before the fair opened,” says Alanna Bottrell, Marketing Coordinator, Continuing Education & Corporate Training, Keyano College.
“We’re counting on similar success stories this year,” added Bottrell.
Career Fair 2012 will feature over 50 exhibiting employers, including Syncrude, Suncor, Nexen, and FT Services. A full list of participating employers can be found at www.keyano.ca/careerfair.
In addition to employment opportunities, attendees will have a chance to learn more about training options at the Keyano College booths.
“Everybody has the potential to land their dream job. You might come to the Career Fair and discover a whole new range of opportunities that you were unaware of. Keyano College has the programs and training facilities to prepare most people for the career that they are striving for,” she said.
The event is free to the public and open to anyone. There will be computer stations set up for anyone that wishes to apply online, on the spot.
